Talk Description:

This special event will include a slide show with 160 slides showcasing the art of both established and emerging artists who live and work in Cuba. The presentation will be followed by an analysis of the impact of art collectives in Cuba such as Espacio Aglutinador, Grupo DUPP, Grupo ENEMA, La Huella Multiple, Omni Zona Franca, Catedra de Arte y Conducta, and others in the contemporary Cuban art scene.

 

About the Speaker:

Sandra Ramos is a celebrated Cuban artist whose work integrates a multiplicity of techniques to explore issues such as the recovery of a social and individual memory linked to the reality of daily life in Cuba. Her work focuses on subjects such as solitude, emigration, and political manipulation of history and memory. Sandra Ramos has showcased her work worldwide, and has received prizes such as the National Culture Distinction of Cuba, the National Prize of Engraving, and residences in Connecticut, London, and Italy.
