Denise Edwards Denise
Denise Edwards is currently a first-year doctoral student in the Computer Science program, at the Graduate School of the City University of New York. Born in Kitts, West Indies, Denise was raised both in the Bronx and in Antigua, her parents' native land. As a child, she moved to New York with her mother and received her formal education in the United States. She completed her B.S. degree in Computer Science, cum laude, in 2002 at Herbert Lehman College, graduating with Math and Computer Science Departmental Honors. She is also a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society and a Lehman College Computer Science Scholar. During her studies at Lehman College, she worked as an intern at IBM Research, on projects that included web accessibility for people with disabilities and social computing research supporting online work-group communication. Denise also worked as a research assistant on a National Science Foundation grant for computer visualization and phylogenetic reconstruction algorithms. In 2003, Denise completed her M.S. degree in Computer Science atLehman College. Her hobbies include writing music and poetry, singing and playing several musical instruments. Her fellowship position is at Lehman High School.
