Andrew S. Roberts
Andrew S. Roberts is a second-year doctoral student in the Department of Biology, at the Graduate School of the City University, of New York and in the Institute of Economic Botany, at the New York Botanical Garden. Andrew earned his B.S. degree in sustainable agriculture (with a concentration in plant sciences) from the University of Maine. He went on to work as a research and curatorial assistant at the New York Botanical Garden for four years, followed by two years as an agriculture/forestry extension officer in Tanzania with the Peace Corps. His current research interests, falling broadly under the umbrellas of ecology and anthropology, are centered on innovation and experimentation by small farmers and on processes of transition in agricultural systems at the level of the individual farm and in aggregate over the landscape. His fellowship position is at Herbert Lehman High School.
