“The Jewish Diaspora of the Caribbean” is an international conference to be held at the Pegasus Hotel of Kingston, Jamaica beginning on Tuesday January 12 to Thursday January 14, 2010. Leading experts from the United States, Jamaica, Israel and France will explore such topics as Atlantic trading networks, cultural history including architecture, music, and religion, as well as Jewish/Portuguese identity. Anyone with an interest in the Jewish Caribbean is welcome to attend. Special activities are being arranged for those in attendance including a “breakfast with the experts.” Additionally, The United Congregation of Israelites of Jamaica is organizing activities to explore historic and contemporary Jewish Jamaica for those who wish to stay over the weekend.
