Abstract for Susan Schweitzer's talk

A site of your own: A hands-on tutorial for building a professional webpage
Susan Schweitzer (CUNY Graduate Center)
February 17, 2005 (Thursday)
4:15 PM - 6:00 PM; Room 6417, the CUNY Graduate Center

A professional website has become a standard for academics. It is useful for disseminating information to colleagues and potential employers, and also helps foster a sense of community in the program. This professional development session will be a hands-on tutorial on how to make a web page at the CUNY Graduate Center. If you already know html, this session will provide you with the specifics you need to create a page at the Graduate Center. If you are a computer novice and have never built a page before, templates and step-by-step instructions will assist you in creating your own first page. In order to prepare for the session, make sure all the information you want to include (such as your cv, a picture, papers you've written, etc.) is available on your U drive ("My Documents" on any Graduate Center Computer), or bring it with you on a disc. Please note that this session is not in the usual location; it will be held in room C415B, on the concourse level.
