Description:
This contribution to the debate
on security in the Caribbean
highlights the security problems
of small states. The authors
draw from realist theory, conflict
theory, and political economy
analyses to examine the indigenous,
regional and extra-regional
dynamics shaping the Caribbean
security environment. Four
case studies are presented:
Barbados, Guyana, the Virgin
Islands, and the Belize-Guatemala
territorial dispute. This work
is valuable to scholars and
policy analysts of military/security
issues, the Caribbean/Latin
America, and Third World development
