“There is nothing so practical as a good theory” -- Kurt Lewin
The Social/Personality (SP) Psychology subprogram includes a unique and eclectic group of individuals who come together with different experiences, knowledges, interests, and backgrounds. Our work addresses a diverse range of critical social issues which broadly center on the themes of Self and Identity, Intergroup Relations and Social Policy, and Justice and Injustice. The SP Psychology subprogram is supportive of a wide array of methodologies to answer questions across and beyond these areas; quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methodologies are all taught and encouraged. We are invested in using psychological research as a vehicle for social change and take seriously the ways in which our work affects individuals and groups politically and socially. Our subprogram is committed to sharing ideas with each other, involving each other in the processes of our research and teaching, and supporting one another as we are all growing as professionals in the field of psychology.
