Awards and Honors
The Critical Criminology section of the American Society of Criminology has awarded the "Critical Criminologist of the Year" award to Dave Brotherton.
Katherine Chen's book, Enabling Creative Chaos: The Organization Behind the Burning Man Event (2009, University of Chicago) was awarded honorable mention for the 2011 Max Weber Award of the Organizations, Occupations, and Work Section of the American Sociological Association. She received acknowledgment of the award at the ASA annual meeting in Las Vegas on Aug. 21, 2011.
Chris Grov
a recent alum’s dissertation, “(RE)DEFINING (AB)NORMAL: SEXUAL COMPULSIVITY AMONG MEN WHO HAVE SEX WITH MEN” was selected for an Honorable mention of the Paul Monette-Roger Horwitz Dissertation Prize. This award is given for the best dissertation in LGTBQ Studies, broadly defined, by a PhD candidate within the City University of New York system.
