Mission
The main objectives of the European Union
Studies Center (EUSC) are to foster scholarship and general understanding, disseminate
knowledge, and encourage debate about issues and challenges facing the European Union,
both internally and externally. To promote these goals, the Center conducts academic
seminars and coordinates interdisciplinary research on the European Union throughout The
City University of New York, hosts visiting scholars, and runs an outreach program of
lectures
and international conferences.
These activities attract and benefit a diverse audience: they provide a neutral
forum for members of the diplomatic community to meet informally with each other and with
the general public; they offer the international business community new perspectives and
scholarly analysis. They afford students and academics from CUNY and area universities an
opportunity to meet diplomats, business officers, and representatives from other
educational institutions.
Through these activities and the
Center's publications of these activities, the EUSC
continues to increase understanding of the interdependence and global links that exist
between the countries of Europe and the United States.
