![]() Alfonso J. García Osuna Ph.D. 1989
Dr. García Osuna (Havana, 1953) is the Chairperson of the Department of Foreign Languages at Kingsborough Community College. He has published several articles in scholarly journals, and among his most recent books are Incidents of Travel on the Road to Santiago (N.Y: McGraw-Hill, 1998), The Cuban Filmography, 1897-2001 (London: McFarland, 2002), and La filmografía cubana, 1897-2003 (London: McFarland, 2003). He also regularly participates in learned conferences in the United States and around the world. Dr. García Osuna is an avid cyclist, among other things having three times completed the pilgrimage Road to Santiago de Compostela, traversing all of northern Spain from the French border to the Atlantic. His teaching assignments at Kingsborough include The History and Civilization of Spain (Spa. 55); Survey of Spanish Peninsular Literature (Spa. 30); and Spanish Syntax and Composition (Spa. 36). He has also taught graduate level courses in Medieval and Renaissance Literature in Brooklyn College and at Hofstra University, as well as the history of the Spanish Language. For many years he was director of the KCC-CUNY Overseas Academic Program in Spain. Because of his chosen field –the Classic sources of Spanish Renaissance Literature- he has attained a solid working knowledge of Koine Greek, Latin and Italian, and is also fluent in Spanish regional languages.
