Description:

The Ph.D. Program in Mathematics of The Graduate Center of The City University of New York anticipates a postdoctoral position at the visiting assistant professor level, to begin in September 2010. This is a non-tenure track position with a term of two years.

The successful candidate will teach one undergraduate course per year and will oversee the progress of four Number Theory RTG students at The Graduate Center.

Performs teaching, research, and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise as noted below. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments, performing administrative, supervisory, and other functions as may be assigned. Visiting faculty are individuals with a primary commitment to another accredited college or university who possess advanced scholarship or professional achievement.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of expertise, or equivalent as noted below.  Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or creative achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics awarded prior to July 1, 2010, must be eligible to work in the United States and should show outstanding research potential in Number Theory.

Salary Range: An annual salary of $44,552 plus a stipend of $25,000 from NSF grant with $3,000 summer salary supplemented by additional $3,000 for travel expenses and supplies (commensurate with qualifications). This position will be funded by The Graduate Center (Mathematics) and the NSF (RTG Grant in Number Theory).
