Opportunity and Diversity Program; and Dr. James de Jongh

Special

for putting the program together; and to our photographer,
Rodolfo Leyton.
Thanks
also to The Graduate Center’s Continuing Education

Special
thanks to Sarah Foudy and Dr. Jerry Carlson of CUNY TV for
airing interviews with Ejima Baker, Miriam Machado-Cooper,
Ariel Fernandez, and Anamaría Flores on “Nueva
York” on 4 May at 10:00am, 4:00pm, and 10:00pm, and
for filming parts of the conference.
And finally,
many thanks to all our volunteers.
Gracias….desde Anamaría Flores
I want to firstly thank the Good Neighbor Committee of the
Ford Foundation for funding our conference; it would have
been impossible to pull off without that grant.
Secondly I want to say muchas, muchas gracias to my co-chair,
and sister, Ejima Baker, for the endless hours of work that
she put into making the conference a success and for always
offering me encouragement and support. This conference could
not and would not have happened without her efforts! La
lucha sigue siempre, mujer.
I wish to extend special thanks to my sister, Stephanie
Werkema, for the artwork that graces our flier and the cover
of the program and for her confidence in me and my work.
I also want to thank Sarah Foudy of CUNY TV for her generosity
and for all her hard work.
Finally, I want to thank Jamila Brathwaite of IRIDAC, my
D-town sister, for putting the program together, ordering
the supplies, paying the bills, printing the posters, and
for being the rock upon which we built the conference.
Gracias…..desde
Ejima Baker
I
want to that all of the people in my life who supported
me throughout this conference: particularly, my tireless
and dedicated sister and amiga, Anamaría; the women
in my life who made me who I am: Ingrid, Ejae, Shari, and
everyone else who I am proud to call my family; my colleagues
at the GC who helped to flesh out this idea; Anthony, for
reading, sorting, listening, and being there always; and
Renée Rose at the Ford Foundation without whose guidance
and support, I would have been lost. A special thank you
to the IRADAC office (Jamila, Gloria, Prof DeJongh), Sarah
of CUNY TV, and the roundtable participants.
