About Rosa Clemente:

“The message that she gave to the young people is that we should be proud of their culture…”

“She’s telling every young person to know and believe who you are, not what you hear and see, but from the person you believe you are” Nyasia

“As young people we should be teaching our parents and others about who they are and where their ancestors came from, which is Africa….” Maurice

What does Afro-latin@ mean to you?

“I can define myself as a Afro-latina because I am African American and Latina and I am proud of it and I represent both because I am both. I may not know anyone in my family who is African American but I know for a fact that my ancestors were Africans and Tainos. I consider myself Afro-Latina and I am not ashamed to wake up in the morning and know that.” Raisa

“Pensamos que somos latinos pero la verdad es que todos venimos de un solo genero: el africano…..No importa si somos dominicanos, Puerto riquenos, mejicanos: todosa somos de decendecia Africana.” Carmen
