Graduate Program in Linguistics at the City University of New York

Abstract for NA's talk

Topic... Comment! (T-to-C movement)
NA (NA)
September 11, 2007 (Tuesday)
6:30 PM - 8:00 PM; Room 7102, The CUNY Graduate Center

The first Topic... Comment! session will be dedicated to discussion of David Pesetsky and Esther Torrego's seminal work, "T-to-C movement: Causes and Consequences" (2004);
http://web.mit.edu/linguistics/people/faculty/pesetsky/Torrego-Pesetsky.pdf

The authors offer an intriguing analysis of Case, EPP properties of (un)interpretable features, T properties on D, and the structure of CP and DP. The article is rich and thought provoking, making it a perfect focus for discussion and investigation.

This session will be particularly interesting and timely, as we will be lucky enough to have the authors speak at the November 15th Colloquium. So this Topic… Comment! Session will present us with an excellent opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the authors’ work prior to their presentation.

All are invited and contributions to the discussion from all participants are strongly encouraged.
We look forward to seeing you there!
