Established to develop a fresh approach to biography, the Leon Levy Center for Biography at The Graduate Center, CUNY, offers
four resident fellowships, one of which is earmarked for a CUNY faculty member, for the academic year beginning September 2010. Awards will include writing space, full access to research facilities, and a stipend of $60,000.
During the academic year-in-residence, Biography Fellows participate in a seminar, attend public programs produced by the Leon Levy Center for Biography and partake in the dynamic intellectual community that is the CUNY Graduate Center. Leon Levy Fellows are expected to be in residency at the Graduate Center during the academic year. Fellows are expected to give their full attention to the work in progress and are precluded from teaching or other full-time employment.
Generously funded by the Leon Levy Foundation, the Leon Levy Center for Biography aims to identify and support innovation and excellence in biography and seeks to encourage dialogue between university–affiliated and independent biographers working in print, film, visual arts, and other media, through fellowships and a variety of public programs. Applications are welcome from established biographers, writers moving to biography from other genres, and artists working on biography in film and other media.
Thank you for your interest in the Leon Levy Biography Fellowships.
