Current Courses

The CUNY Graduate Center Fall 2009 Language Reading Program offers the following courses.

  1. FRENCH FOR READING KNOWLEDGE - LEVEL ONE (LRP 101FR)
    An intensive introductory course for those wishing to acquire a reading knowledge of French in the shortest time possible. The course content is based on individual students' disciplines. There will be no emphasis on conversation and no aural-oral methods will be used.

  2. FRENCH FOR READING KNOWLEDGE - LEVEL TWO (LRP 102FR)
    More difficult readings. Fine points of grammar are discussed only as a corollary to the readings.

  3. GERMAN FOR READING KNOWLEDGE - LEVEL ONE (LRP 101GR)
    This intensive introduction to German is designed to develop reading comprehension skills for students and professionals in fields which require a reading knowledge of German. There will be no emphasis on conversation and no aural-oral methods will be used. The course content is based on individual students' disciplines. Emphasis on grammar, word order, and translation.

  4. GERMAN FOR READING KNOWLEDGE - LEVEL TWO (LRP 102GR)
    A continuation of German for Reading Knowledge I, with more difficult readings.
    [Mondays and Thursdays; September 10 - December 10, 4:15 p.m. - 6:15 p.m.]

  5. LATIN FOR READING KNOWLEDGE - LEVEL ONE (LRP 101LR)
    This course is designed to develop reading comprehension skills for students and professionals in fields which require a reading knowledge of Latin. A highly intensive, thorough treatment of all the forms and syntax of the language, with practice in reading representative texts.
