Barbara Dobbs Mackenzie is editor-in-chief of RILM Abstracts of Music
Literature, the international abstracted bibliography of music literature, a position
she has held since January 1996. In July 1999 Dr. Mackenzie was appointed director of the Barry S. Brook Center for Music Research and
Documentation at the City University of New York Graduate Center. The Center's
publications include RILM Abstracts of Music Literature (in printed volumes,
CD-ROM, and online formats), the journals Music in Art and The Free-Reed
Journal, the new edition of the Pergolesi complete works, the French opera in
facsimile series, and the Iberian Music series. Dr. Mackenzie is active in the
International Association of Music Libraries, Archives, and Documentation Centres (chair:
annual RILM sessions), the Music Library Association, and the American Musicological
Society. Before coming to RILM, Dr. Mackenzie taught music history courses at Western
Michigan University and the University of Michigan.
