For Undergraduates Interested
in Careers in College Teaching and Research
The CUNY Pipeline Program is designed to provide educational and financial support to undergraduates interested in pursuing the Ph.D. in preparation for college level teaching and advanced research. Pipeline seeks to recruit students from groups currently underrepresented at our national Universities.
Along with a stipend of $3,250, the CUNY Pipeline Program provides orientation to the academic profession through a summer research institute at the Graduate Center and research projects conducted with doctoral faculty. In the summer institute fellows take a 4-credit research seminar, participate in workshops on applying to graduate school, and attend GRE workshops in preparation for taking the Graduate Record Examination.
Fellows report on their research project at the annual CUNY Pipeline Conference that is held in February at the Graduate Center, and submit a written thesis at the end of the year. Pipeline fellows accepted into any of the doctoral programs at the Graduate Center are entitled to receive a tuition waiver for their first year of study.
Course study begins on the first Monday of June and runs for six weeks, four days a week.
Eligibility requirements: US Citizens or permanent resident; junior who has earned at least 80 credits by the spring of their junior year; minimum 3.2 GPA and has an interest in college teaching and research.
Applications are accepted on a rolling admission basis beginning in November and ending on March 1st.
