MAGNET PRESIDENT'S DISSERTATION YEAR FELLOWSHIPS
One-year fellowships are awarded to currently enrolled students
who have been formally advanced to candidacy for the Ph.D.
and who are in the final stages of research on their doctoral
dissertations. This one-year award carries a stipend of $20,000
and full tuition remission. No service is required of award
recipients. Applications are available from the Office of the
Associate Provost, Room 8113. Fellowship awards are granted
based on the quality of the thesis proposal, the strength of
faculty letters of recommendation, and the likelihood of the
completion of the dissertation by the conclusion of the fellowship
year. The application deadline is February 1.

WILLIAM RANDOLPH HEARST DISSERTATION YEAR AWARD
For students who have advanced to candidacy and who are in
the final stages of research on their doctoral dissertations.
This one-year award carries a stipend of $8,000 plus in-state
tuition. Awards are granted based on the quality of the thesis
proposal, the strength of faculty letters of recommendation,
and the likelihood of the completion of the dissertation by
the conclusion of the fellowship year. No service is required
of award recipients. Applications are available from the Office

MAGNET CHANCELLOR'S POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS
To Encourage CUNY Alumni to Pursue Careers in College Teaching
One-year fellowships are available to Graduate Center alumni
who have earned their CUNY doctorates within the past five
years. The fellowships are provided under the Minority Access/Graduate
Networking (MAGNET) Program of the CUNY Graduate Center.
MAGNET seeks to expand opportunities for underrepresented
students in doctoral study and to create a network linking
students to one another, to faculty and administrators, and
to further opportunities.
Chancellor's Fellows may teach one course within the CUNY
system, conduct research, assist in the recruitment of underrepresented
students for doctoral study, and serve as mentors for recipients
of the MAGNET Fellowships. Each award carries a stipend of
$36,000 for the academic year. Fellows meet monthly for academic
discussions, mentoring, and peer support.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
Currently
enrolled students must have a deposited dissertation and
have filed for a May degree.
