Meet Rolf Meyersohn, the Ombuds Officer

I was appointed Ombuds Officer in 1998, after serving as a professor of sociology at the CUNY Graduate Center and at Lehman College. For some years I also chaired the Graduate Center's Committee on Interdisciplinary Studies.

My main goal as Ombuds Officer has been to ensure that students, staff, and faculty are treated fairly here at the Graduate Center. To achieve this goal I try to listen without passing judgment; to clarify procedures and policies; to explore alternative strategies and options for resolving the problem presented; and to provide or recommend resources, training, skills, and procedures that can contribute to the resolution of the conflict, disagreements, concerns, disputes, and problems.

I also try to publicize this office, so that people who might benefit from visiting the office at least know that it exists.

I am married, live in Manhattan, and am an amateur flutist.

Call Rolf Meyersohn, the GC Ombuds Officer, at (212) 817-7191 or email him at ombuds@gc.cuny.edu to receive further information or to arrange a meeting. The Ombuds Office is located in Room 7313.
