Program Handbook
Programs are encouraged to prepare individual program handbooks for the use of students and faculty. The Offices of the Provost and Vice President for Student Affairs should review copy for all new handbooks. The contents must be consistent with those of the Graduate Center Bulletin and the Student Handbook. Handbooks should be readily accessible on the program's web site as well.
The Bulletin is The Graduate Center's official publication that sets forth institutional policies and expectations. Its contents reflect actions by the CUNY Board of Trustees and by the Graduate Council. The Student Handbook is a supplement to the Bulletin and contains more detailed information as well as practical interpretations of general policy. Information in program handbooks can be more expansive and specific than that in the Student Handbook or Bulletin but cannot contradict or alter CUNY or Graduate Center policies. Each program handbook should have the following disclaimer: "Note: This material has been prepared by students [or faculty or whomever] in the program. For official information, please check the current Graduate Center Bulletin and Student Handbook."
