Information Technology

Dr. Stephen Brier, the Vice President, oversees the multi-faceted operations of the Office of Information Technology (OIT) at The Graduate Center and its forty-person staff, headed by Assistant Vice President Bob Campbell. OIT is responsible for providing, maintaining, and upgrading all administrative and academic computing services at The Graduate Center as well as the building’s telecommunications infrastructure. The office provides technical and administrative support of computing and telephony at GC for faculty, staff and student users.

The Vice President also supervises the Research Computing operation, a four-person staff headed by Assistant Director Florian Lengyel. The Research Cluster, created and maintained at The Graduate Center by Research Computing, provides CUNY doctoral faculty and student researchers with large-scale parallel processing resources for sophisticated, computationally intensive research and a platform for evaluation and understanding of cluster management systems with a goal toward a distributed CUNY multi-cluster. An experimental grid is also available for software evaluation and testing.
