The Vice President co-founded and serves as co-director of the New Media Lab, a multidisciplinary, high-end research facility that allows GC doctoral faculty and students from a variety of academic disciplines to create multimedia projects based on their own scholarly research. The NML is committed to a vision of new technology based on open access to ideas, tools, and resources.
In his role as chief instructional technologist for The Graduate Center, the Vice President has also supported and helped create a number of IT-related projects over the past five years, including:
- Serving as co-executive producer of the September 11 Digital Archive, a vast multimedia repository of digital materials designed to collect, preserve, and present the history of the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania and the public responses to them, co-developed by the Center for Media and Learning at The Graduate Center;
- StreamingCulture , which enables cultural, artistic, and intellectual organizations to serve streaming audio and video materials on their websites;
- CUNY’s participation in the Visible Knowledge Project, a five-year, nationwide project aimed at improving the quality of college and university teaching through a focus on both student learning and faculty development in technology-enhanced environments;
