Welcome to The Web Page
for Applicants for CUNY Graduate Center
Dissertation Fellowships

You can complete your application in one of three ways.

  1. Using Microsoft Word. Click on the "Microsoft Word" button. When the "File download" box appears, click "Save." Save the file as "<LastName><FirstName>." For example, if your name is Alexandra Garfield, you would save it as "GarfieldAlexandra." You can now complete your entire application off line. Fill out the application; send it as an attachment in an email message addressed to dissertationgrants@gc.cuny.edu. In the subject line of that message, put "Application from <Name>," e.g., Application from Alexandra Garfield.

  2. Using Adobe Acrobat. Clicking on the "Adobe Acrobat" button will bring up the application in PDF format. This version is a read only file. You must print the application, complete it in hard copy, and then bring it to the Provost's Office.

  3. You can dispense with the Internet versions altogether and get a hard copy of the application from the Provost's Office.

Whichever of these options you choose, remember:

The deadline is 5:00 PM on Friday, February 1, 2008. This deadline applies whether the application is submitted on line to dissertationgrants@gc.cuny.edu, or delivered in hard copy to the Provost's Office, Room 8113 (on the 8th floor).

Whichever option you choose, the professors who are writing recommendation letters for you must submit hard copies of the letters. The professors will submit these separately from your application.

Finally, it does not matter how the applications are submitted from the standpoint of application review. If you submit your application in hard copy, we will scan it, and it will be available for faculty review on line in exactly the same manner as if you had submitted it electronically.

If you have questions about any aspect of the application process, please contact Ann Batiuk at abatiuk@gc.cuny.edu or 212-817-7240; for technical difficulties with the Microsoft Word document or on-line submission, please contact Rachel Sponzo at rsponzo@gc.cuny.edu or 212-817-7282.
