CHANGING LEVELS AND REQUIREMENTS
Reaching Level II
You must (1) complete 45 credits and (2) pass the 1st doctoral examination in your subprogram. Your level will be changed to level II after these requirements have been completed and notified.
Reaching Level III
You must successfully complete the following:
(1) students need to have taken and 'passed' their first and second doctoral examination
(2)
students need to have taken and 'passed' with a "B-" or better grade, Statistics I, Statistics II and Ethics (if your subprogram accepts any substitute courses, please let us know)
(3) 60 credits for Biopsychology, Developmental, Environmental, Social Personality, Cognition Brain and Behavior, Cognitive Neuroscience, Experimental Forensic, and Basic track in Neuropsychology; 72 credits for Learning Processes and Industrial & Organizational; 82 credits for Clinical Neuropsychology; 90 credit for Clinical Psychology and Clinical Forensic
(4) Dissertation Topic Proposal Form (on this form, you will be asked to give the title of your dissertation, to name your committee, and to write a brief description about your dissertation topic. This form is signed by your thesis sponsor, and then turned into the Executive Officer in Psychology for signature and administration processing.)
Language requirements
There are no language requirements in the Ph.D Program in Psychology. However, if you are interested in learning a second language, there are language reading programs at the Graduate Center. For details, please visit the Language Reading Program's website.
