The Program on States and Security was established in 2004, with generous grants from the Ford Foundation and the Carnegie Corporation. Both of our two main projects focus on the state, with a recognition of the importance of fostering communication between academic researchers and those who make and implement policy related to state-building, state capacity, and state failure.
We have been actively updating the resources on this site and developing new ones. Please be sure to explore all of the sections:
- In our Post War Scholars Database, you can search over 300 young scholars and practitioners to find the new generation of those doing research in post-war settings.
- New Research provides summaries of the most recent research being done in post-conflict situations.
- Our Working Papers section contains recent papers and articles by Susan L. Woodward.
- In the Workshops section, you can find a list of the workshops we have sponsored, as well as summary reports and the working papers and memos from each workshop.
- Syntheses are very short papers written with policymakers in mind that summarize the most recent research on specific areas of post-conflict statebuilding.
- For further information, check out our listing of Online Resources.
- Or contribute to our newly launched Wiki, an interactive, community-updated forum of the most important works on post-conflict statebuilding, including an extensive bibliography.
