CUNY Nonsense Syllable Test
For an explanation of test administration and a sample answer sheet, see Dubno and Dirks, 1982. About the recordingsEach syllable was recorded embedded in a carrier phrase "You will mark ____, please". In each set one syllable is repeated (a different syllable in each protocol). When scoring, the two identical syllables each receive one-half point. There are six test protocols, i.e., six different recordings of the entire test. The files stored here were digitized from the original reel-to-reel recordings (sub-masters). In the original recordings the order of the sets was randomized, as was the order of the syllables in each set. You will find a calibration signal for each protocol. The calibration signal is equal to the average level of the word "mark" in the carrier phrase. Note: The competing noise used in collecting normative data was
