Professor Jean Anyon

          

Prominent political economist of education Jean Anyon joins us from Rutgers University. She is the author of Ghetto Schooling: A Political Economy of Urban Educational Reform. Published in 1997 and positively reviewed by The New York Times Book Review, the book is in its third printing. Anyon is widely regarded as an expert on urban education and inner city revitalization. She has been interviewed on numerous radio and television programs and has been an invited speaker at universities throughout the U.S. and England. Anyon has published many scholarly articles on educational issues involving the confluence of social class and race. Jean is based at the Graduate Center, and directs the Education Policy strand of the new Doctoral Program in Urban Education. She will teach courses in educational and social policy.
