The Society of Professors of Education awarded Joel Spring with the Mary Anne Raywid Award for 2009. This award is named for Mary Anne Raywid, Hofstra University Professor Emerita and Past president of the Society of Professors of Education (1978-9). The award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the study of education - particularly in educational foundations. Past recipients include Dan Tanner, Bill Schubert, Wayne Urban, Bill Pinar, Gloria Ladson-Billings, and Maxine Greene.

Along with the award, Joel was given a session at AERA for a lecture. He will be speaking about Globalization and Education.
