Staff

Daniel Rothenberg, Ph.D.
is the Director of the Psychological Counseling and Adult Development (PCAD) Center, and Project Director of the Action and Mastery program. He is a member of the core teaching faculty and supervisor of psychotherapy at the William Alanson White Institute, and is an Associate Editor of Contemporary Psychoanalysis. He is also a Visiting Associate Professor of Medical Psychology in Psychiatry, Department of Psychiatry, Columbia University.

Arielle Shanok, Ph.D.
is a Staff Psychologist at the PCAD Center. She has been trained in dynamic, family systems, interpersonal, supportive, cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral therapies; her approach is integrative. She has published articles in the areas of psychotherapy effectiveness and adolescent pregnancy.

Karen Starr, Psy.D.
is a Staff Psychologist at the PCAD Center. She is an experienced presenter and public speaker, and has led numerous workshops on psychological topics. She runs an ongoing dissertation support group and is experienced in working with graduate students' unique concerns.

Madeline Lippman, Ph.D.
is the Project Coordinator of the Action and Mastery program. She coordinates outreach efforts at the PCAD Center and supervises Pre- and Post-doctoral fellows. She is a graduate of the Postdoctoral Program in Psychoanalysis at NYU and a supervisor of psychotherapy in the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at City College.

Thomas Cromer, Ph.D.
is a visiting assistant professor and post doctoral fellow at the PCAD Center. His professional interests include psychotherapy process and outcome as well as short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy. He has published articles investigating factors contributing to positive psychotherapy outcomes.

Melissa Ilardi, Ph.D.
is a visiting assistant professor and post doctoral fellow at PCAD. Her professional interests include mentalization and attachment theory, resilience within at-risk populations, and addressing fears of success within the academic setting.

Lauren DeMille, MSW, M.A.
is a pre-doctoral fellow at the PCAD Center. She has worked with students in short-term therapy and has co-led workshops for graduate students. She also holds an MSW in Social Work.

Sibel Halfon, M.A.
is a pre-doctoral fellow at the PCAD Center. She holds a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from Turkey and is interested in psychoanalytic process as well as trauma studies. She has experience with psychodynamic long-term and short term therapy as well as group therapy.

Iris Perach, M.A.
is a pre-doctoral fellow at the PCAD Center. She has a Masters Degree in Psychology from the New School for Social Research. She has experience with psychodynamic long-term, short term, and group therapy.

Jason Royal, D.M.A.
is a pre-doctoral fellow at the PCAD Center. He has worked with students in short-term therapy and has co-led workshops for graduate students.

Patricia Yoon, M.A.
is a pre-doctoral fellow at the PCAD Center. Her interests include short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy and minority mental health.

Consultants

Lois Feldman, Ph.D.
is a workshop leader at the PCAD Center. She is a psychologist and a certified Speaking Circle facilitator who runs workshops on public speaking in corporations and other settings. She has extensive experience helping students with issues pertaining to their graduate work.

Lisa Lyons, Ph.D.
is a workshop leader at the PCAD Center. She is a psychologist in private practice and an expert practitioner and teacher of Dialectical Behavior Therapy. She has practiced and taught Mindfulness meditation for many years. In addition to using it to enhance her own life, she has used it to help others reduce anxiety, decrease substance abuse, regulate feelings, and develop the ability to observe and reflect on their internal experiences.

Fred Stern , Ph.D.
is a workshop leader at the PCAD Center. He is a psychologist in private practice. He runs public speaking seminars, and has worked extensively with graduate students, giving a variety of workshops at CUNY over the past fifteen years.

Claire Wurtzel , Ph.D.
is is the Director of Professional Development for the Churchill School and Center. She also works with NYC public and independent schools. Her major interest is in curriculum development and providing interactive learning opportunities for all learners.
