Oral History: Carole Byard

Carole Byard is a new York-based sculptor and
painter. Since the late-1960's, she has also been active as an organizer
and activist. She was strongly influenced by Malcolm X and the playwright
Amiri Baraka - and the idea that art should serve the community. Much of
her work has been community-focused projects such as murals. The oral history
references over forty of Byard's works, and includes slides and documentation
of many.
