Rosalba Rolon is founder and Artistic Director
of Pregones Theater, a Puerto Rican repertory theater collective, located
on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx. The company's mission is to provide
Latino and other communities a means to question, reaffirm, and enhance
their own roles in society. Rolon's vision has allowed the collective to
endure more than twenty years of existence proving that acting, directing,
and working in a collective are viable ways of making a living. Rolon's
activism has always been reflected in the plays that she wrote, directed
and performed in.
The first interview discusses Pregones Theater, the collective; its
history, structure and daily functions. The second interview concentrates
on Rolon's personal life and how she became a political person. The third
interview delves further into her political as well as her philosophical
beliefs.
