Barbara Dobkin is the founder of Ma'yan, The
Jewish Women's Project at the Jewish Community Center of the Upper West
Side in New York City. As a visionary of a new, more tolerant community,
she has worked for change through organizing and fundraising for women's
and Jewish causes, serving on many boards of directors, awarding grants
through the Dobkin Family Foundation, and creating Ma'yan.
The interviews provide examples of how Jewish culture can frame expectations
and accomplishments. The interviews also include discussions of body image,
power dynamics, philanthropy, feminism, family, sexuality, and community
organizing.
