Oral History: Norma Stanton

Norma Stanton was born in 1930 in the city
of Rafaela, Santa Fe, Argentina. After receiving a Ph.D. in International
Relations, Stanton left Argentina in 1964 and went to Puerto Rico to conduct
post-graduate studies in Caribbean Studies.
While working with the youth advocacy group ASPIRA, Stanton focused
on women as an under-served population and as agents of social change.
Under her leadership, HACER developed computer and language skills programs
and career placement to promote the means to foster individual and community
empowerment.
